Dr Ratneswary Esa Sutharsan is the founder and Scientific Director of Biospecimen-Smart. Esa established Biospecimen Smart due to the need for cell banking and biospecimen-related consulting and education services among academia, clinical and the biomedical industry.

Esa developed a passion for providing expert advice on best practice policies for cell banks biobanks. She has 15 years of experience in biobanking and 9 years of expertise in managing cell banks.

Esa also has in-depth knowledge of and expertise in biomedical research, epidemiological studies, developing cellular therapies, quality improvement and project management. She has a wide range of research and analytical skills in clinical studies, including systematic reviews, meta-analysis and longitudinal study data analysis. To date, she has co-authored 21 peer-reviewed publications and one book chapter.

Esa has a PhD in cell biology and a master’s degree in epidemiology. She also holds a diploma in project management and certificates in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Teaching in Higher Education (Staff & Educational Development Association, UK).
